ESG
Definition
“Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG)” refers to a set of criteria and frameworks that define how companies, governments, and public authorities take into account the needs of all stakeholders. In the investment sector in particular, ESG criteria are often used to compare different financial products in terms of their environmental impact, social aspects, and corporate governance. Often, the simplified term ESG-compliant financial products is used when what is meant is that these are particularly sustainable and also socially responsible. However, there are many companies that launch products that are marketed as ESG compliant, but often only engage in greenwashing.
